Havabet Review

Introduction

Havabet review

The following is an in-depth Havabet review. We cover the history, features, interface, sports & racing markets, upsides and downsides of the service.

This review is part of our comprehensive Bookmaker Reviews section. The Betting Agencies page provides information and reviews for other sports betting agencies that are suitable for Australians. The following details are updated periodically to keep them up to date.

History, Location and Licence

Launched in 2024, Havabet is an Australian-owned bookmaker that is licensed in the State of Victoria by Racing Victoria and regulated by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission.1

HavaBet is the trading name of Havabet Pty Ltd (ABN 43 661 973 744), which is headquartered in Melbourne.2, 3

HavaBet is owned and operated by Greg Cook and his wife. While the website was only launched a few years ago, Greg has been on Sydney racetracks since the early 1980s. He is responsible for writing the software that many on-course bookmakers still use to this day. Grey’s wife was previously the main operator for the long-standing bookmaker Con Kafataris. She then joined Greg to run their own on-course business.

HavaBet’s ethos is to provide a personalised service that offers unique offers for their loyal customers. They also strive to provide superior odds – something that we have verified to be true in our most recent bookmaker margins survey. If you see a better price elsewhere, you can ask them if they they match it (they advertise that sometimes they’ll even beat it) on selected sports.

HavaBet is a member of the Victorian Bookmakers’ Association. The service is an approved wagering provider of the AFL, Basketball Australia, Cricket Australia, the NRL, Racing Victoria, Racing NSW, Racing Queensland, Racing SA, Tas Racing, Racing and Wagering Western Australia, the Gambling & Racing Commission, Thoroughbred Racing NT, Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission, Greyhound Racing Victoria, Harness Racing NSW and Harness Racing Victoria.

The Havabet website employs the GenerationWeb Interactive Betting System.

Mobile betting

The website uses a responsive design that tailors the layout to the screen size of your device.

Android and Apple Apps are available.

The Android app didn’t have any reviews at the time of writing.

At the time of review, the Havabet Apple App doesn’t have enough ratings or reviews for Apple to display an overview. The current Apple app requires iOS 15.0 or later, or macOS 12.0 or later.

Bookmaker Margin

The bookmaker margin (overround) is a measure of the bookmaker’s profit margin for an event and is a hidden transaction cost for punters. This profit is how bookmakers finance their services but bookmakers vary in the margins they apply. From a punter’s perspective, the lower the margin, the better. Learn more about bookmaker margins.

Sports

Havabet recorded the lowest sports margins (best odds) out of twelve bookmakers and betting exchanges in our most recent bookmaker margins survey. Across all of the leagues we covered, Havabet offered the best or joint best odds for 20% of the surveyed markets.

Havabet recorded an average margin of just 4.7%, compared to the survey average of 6.3%. We observed head-to-head margins as low as 2.8% for the NHL and 2.9% for the NBA. For three-outcome head-to-head markets we observed margins as low as 3.7% for the EPL and 3.8% for the FA Cup. Havabet topped the standings for all three markets covered: head-to-head, line and total score.

Note that these margins were primarily observed on the day of the surveyed games. Like most bookmakers, Havabet employs higher margins in the days prior to the event start.

Fixed Odds Racing

For fixed odds win markets, Havabet finished 8th out of the 12 surveyed bookmakers for thoroughbreds, 9th for harness and 10th for greyhounds. Their average racing margin for the races we covered was 31%, compared to the survey average of 31% and the survey median of 29%.

Frequency of Best Odds

Bookmaker margin is just one part of the picture. A bookmaker might have higher margins, but due to their independence in setting odds, they might frequently offer the best available odds on specific selections. A low margin bookmaker works well as a standalone membership for those who want just one place to wager. A bookmaker that offers the best odds on specific selections works well within a portfolio of memberships to shop around for the best odds.

Sports

Across all of the leagues we covered, Havabet offered the best or joint best odds for 20% of the surveyed markets.

Havabet’s biggest strength is US sports. In our 2026 bookmaker margins survey, they offered the best or joint best odds on 62.5% of the selections for the MLB and NHL, and 50% of the selections for the NBA.

Fixed Odds Racing

In our 2026 survey, Havabet offered the best or joint best fixed win odds for 15% of the thoroughbreds runners, 0% of the harness runners and 0% of the greyhounds runners.

Sports Markets

In May 2025 we observed markets for the AFL, baseball (MLB, CPBL, JBP, KBO), basketball (NBA, WNBA, LNB, Filipino Commissioners Cup, Japanese B League, New Zealand NBL), boxing, cricket (County Championship divisions 1 & 2, IPL, international test cricket), golf (PGA), motor racing (Formula 1), rugby league (NRL, Super League), football (too many leagues to count, however not the A-League) and tennis (ATP, ATP Challenger, WTA, WTA Challenger).

The notable absentees from the above were the A-League and Super Rugby.

A modest number of markets is offered for each sport, but the primary markets that most people bet on are included. Some example market figures are 27 for the AFL, 3 for the MLB, 3 for the NBA, 7 for the IPL, 22 for the NRL, 3 for most football fixtures and 4 for tennis.

With the exception of the AFL and NRL, markets are typically only made available either the day before or the day of each event.

Same-game multi (SGM) betting is supported for a wide range of leagues and events. This includes the AFL, MLB, NBA, all cricket, the NRL, the majority of football leagues and all tennis.

We did not observe any futures markets during the review.

Betting Interface

Havabet navigation screenshot

The Havabet website employs the GenerationWeb Interactive Betting System. This review will focus on the layout that is displayed for laptops and PCs.

The website uses the ubiquitous three-column layout. Navigation is on the left, markets and odds are in the centre and the betting slip is on the right. When the betting slip is empty, the right column instead displays a list of upcoming events.

The navigation panel is split in half. The top half displays highlighted sports and racing events. The bottom half displays either a list of sports or racing links, depending on whether the Racing or Sport tab is selected.

The sports in the navigation column are listed in an expandable format. When a sport is selected, the navigation panel expands to display a list of leagues for that sport.

No breadcrumbs are provided and there isn’t a search feature for upcoming events.

Overall, the website’s navigation is intuitive and beginner-friendly.

Havabet odds and betslip screenshot

When you select a sport, a list of upcoming fixtures is displayed along with the head-to-head, and where relevant, the line and over/under odds.

The number of additional markets available is shown below each fixture. SGM icons are shown above markets that can be employed within same-game multis.

Selections that are already in your betting slip are highlighted in the odds area.

When the Additional Markets button for a game is clicked, all available markets for that fixture are displayed as a list. Clicking on each market displays the selections and their respective odds. You can expand to view odds for more than one market at a time. To view the odds for another fixture in that league, rather than navigate back to the fixtures list, you can either close the Additional Markets tabs or scroll down to the next fixture.

The betting slip displays both multi and single bet options. When numerous selections are added to the slip, you can manually create exotic multis. For example, if there are four items in your slip, you can enter stakes for doubles (6 combinations), trebles (4 combinations) and a 4-leg multi.

If promotional features are available, they are displayed with icons below the applicable selections in the betting slip.

Overall, the betting interface is fast and easy to use. We like the fact that you can view the head-to-head, line and total score markets for all upcoming fixtures in a league at once. A standout feature is how quickly the website loads. When viewing new leagues or additional markets, the display of the new odds feels instantaneous.

Horse Racing

Havabet racing screenshot

The Havabet racing interface is easy to learn because the website employs the same layout as most other bookmakers.

A form guide is available for Australian thoroughbred races as a pop-up box. Official flucs are shown next to the fixed odds.

For thoroughbreds, you can build your own same-race multi (SRM) using win, top 2, top 3 and top 4 markets.

For weekend metro racing, we observed Best Tote and SP (BT3SP) for win markets and Best of 3 Totes for place markets. At smaller weekend venues we observed Best of 3 Totes for win and middle Tote for place.

For harness and greyhounds, we observed middle Tote.

Generally, fixed odds are made available either the day before or shortly before the commencement of the racecard.

A strong range of racecourses are shown from around the world, however we’ve observed that Havabet generally doesn’t offer wagering for international races until about two hours before each race. For example, for Ellerslie (NZ) on Saturday at 12:19 PM (AEST), we could bet up to Race 7 (1:54 PM) but on not Race 8 (2:29 PM).

Upsides

  • Incredibly competitive sports odds on the day of the event. Havabet had the lowest sports margins (best odds) out of twelve bookmakers and betting exchanges in our 2026 bookmaker margins survey. Across all of the leagues we covered, Havabet offered the best or joint best odds for 20% of the surveyed markets. They are particularly strong for US Sports. In the 2026 survey, Havabet offered the best or joint best odds for 62.5% of the MLB & NHL selections and 50% of the NBA selections.
  • Identity verification can be achieved with a click of a button
  • Low $0.50 minimum stake
  • Owned and operated by a couple who have been involved in Australian racing for decades. Greg Cook has been involved on Sydney racetracks since the early 1980s.
  • Incredibly fast betting platform
  • Online chat is available
  • Best Tote and SP (BT3SP) for win markets and Best of 3 Totes for place markets for Saturday metro racing
  • Same-game multis are supported for most sports
  • Same-race multis are supported for thoroughbreds
  • Australian owned
  • No dormant account fees
  • If your account balance is less than $10.00, you can submit a withdrawal request for the entire remainder of your balance
  • Rewards Points feature

Downsides

  • With the exception of the AFL and NRL, sports odds are generally only made available either the day before or the day of the event
  • Modest selection of markets per fixture
  • A-League and Super Rugby markets weren’t offered at the time of review
  • With the exception of Saturday metro thoroughbreds, fixed odds are generally only made available the day of, or the day before, the racecard
  • Less competitive fixed racing odds for harness and greyhounds
  • You are assigned a login user ID when you join. To change the ID to something that’s easier to remember, you have to email support
  • Cashing out of bets isn’t supported

Bottom Line

The Havabet website is only a few years old, but the people behind it have been involved in Australian bookmaking since the early ’80s. The bookmaker’s best feature is the highly competitive sports odds on the day of the event. Havabet recorded the lowest sports margins (best odds) out of twelve bookmakers and betting exchanges in our 2026 bookmaker margins survey. The website employs the lightning-fast GenerationWeb betting system, which makes wagering fast and easy. Their fixed racing odds were above the median in our margins survey, however Havabet offers Best Tote and SP (BT3SP) for win markets and Best of 3 Totes for place markets for Saturday metro racing. The service isn’t ideal as a standalone membership due to the smaller range of leagues and markets offered, but membership would tremendously benefit anyone who shops around for the best sports odds.
